recently, actually. so it will be interesting to see how this all plays out. president trump s rhetoric on north korea has been sort of similar, you know. remember in 2017, he began with the whole fire and fury comments, and then obviously, that de-escalated a little bit, and then that led to a summit with north korea. i don t know if that strategy will necessarily work with iran, because it just seems like there s too much bad blood between the trump administration and the iranian regime right now. certainly there s a difference in engagement between the u.s. and north korea and the u.s. and iran on that front, you re absolutely right. now, the wall street journal is also offering a little bit of new information on his decision-making process, and according to the journal, the president was critical of not just his own inner circle for pushing this war, possible war, but he bemoaned the cost of a drone shot down by iran, which comes out to about $130 million, but says people t
michael wolff is the author of fire and fury and trump under siege. at the 75th anniversary of d-day, will the real donald trump please stand up? these shores, all these bluffs, on this day, for their brothers, for their countries, and for the survival of liberty. do you mind if mueller testifies? before you said you didn t care. let me tell you, he made such a fool out of himself. what people don t report is the letter he had to do to straighten out his testimony because his testimony was wrong. tested in the trials of war and proven in the blessings of peace. our bond is unbreakable. nancy pelosi, i call her nervous nancy, nancy pelosi doesn t talk about it.
and i think that s what we re left with, we re left with this equivocation, this ambivalence. i of on thought what if it had been someone else who had been the special counsel? what in another parallel universe, what if rudy giuliani had been a special counsel? he would have indicted the president. and i think that s the difference between bob mueller and other people, both the good side of robert mueller and the problematic side of robert mueller. at one point in my book, steve bannon says after the mueller report comes out, never send a marine to do a hit man s job. and i think that s what you have on bob mueller. he decided let s preserve the institutions. how have the dynamics in the trump administration changed from your first book, fire and fury to this one?
the xfinity store is here. and it s simple, easy, awesome. michael wolff s first book about trump fire and fury was a sensation. but the sequel is called siege has been met with a shrug so far. journalists are being very cautious, very skeptical about the claims that he makes in the book. it comes out on tuesday, but journalists have advanced copies. the biggest news item is an allegations that the mueller team drafted an indictment of trump on obstruction of justice charges. mueller s spokesman said the documents that wolff described simply do not exist. my panel is back with me now to discuss this. and some other media headlines. what do we make of the idea, elena, that wolff claims there was this draft indictment and then the special counsel s office which almost never
wolf told the new york times, quote, my source is impeccable and i have no doubt about the authenticity and the significance of the documents that i have. so what does it say about wolff s credibility at the end of the day? and this book? michael wolff has also told npr that he has an explanation for why the office of special counsel has said the documents as described did not exist, and there is more to this than that, which will be coming out as people see the actual book and michael wolff has more of an explanation than is contained in the book itself. but it does start the book off on the wrong foot, if you will. the first book, fire and fury was often questioned because its sources were unnamed. in that book he was basing a lot of his writing on his personal observation inside the white house, for weeks in the early going of the trump administration. that s all gone and we re strictly talking to sources, with the exception of one big source who s all over the book,
