To the editor: Thanks to all who voted in the recent election. Having no idea what my chances were, I was happily surprised when Justice of the Peace Paul Obuchowski announced the results at the Masonic Temple. My fellow new select board members Bonnie North, Elijah Zimmer and I learned of our victories at 7:10 and were already at work in our first board meeting 20 minutes later.
With veteran select board members Peter Golec and Sue Hammond as chair and vice chair respectively, it feels like we have a capable, thoughtful and hard-working team in place. Iâm also encouraged by my recent orientation meeting with Municipal Manager Scott Pickup, Finance Director Shannon Burbela and Town Planner Chuck Wise who are all welcoming and helpful to this new select board member as he learns the ropes.

BELLOWS FALLS â Faced with continuing state restrictions on public gatherings because of the coronavirus pandemic, Rockingham officials are considering pushing Town Meeting back a month or so.
The Vermont Legislature adopted legislation Thursday that would allow towns to make some one-time changes to accommodate their towns during the pandemic.
Gaetano Putignano, chairman of the Rockingham Select Board, said he isnât in favor of postponing March Town Meeting, but he said the town has the right to consider it.
A traditional floor meeting, like the one Rockingham holds on Monday night before Tuesday Town Meeting, is out of the question, Putignano said, with other board members agreeing.
