Starbucks to Launch Four Vegan Sandwiches in UK

Shares A slew of exciting vegan options are on the way to Starbucks locations in the United Kingdom. In honor of Veganuary a campaign urging people to go vegan for the month of January the chain will update its menu with four new vegan food options. Starbucks will add two sandwiches: a Beyond Meat Breakfast Sandwich made with a Beyond Meat patty and served with tomato relish, tofu scramble, and vegan cheese, on a pretzel roll; and a Cheese & Marmite Mini Ciabatta Sandwich made with grated mature vegan cheddar. The chain will also offer two wraps: Chick’n & BBQ Bean Hot Wrap filled with flame-grilled chick’n, barbecue beans, spinach, red onion, cilantro, and lime juice; and Sweetcorn Fritter Wrap filled with a golden corn fritter, smoky barbecue sauce, and red cabbage wrapped in a tomato tortilla.

A New Black-Owned Vegan Restaurant Opens in Portland

Shares Today, vegan comfort-food pop-up Plant Based Papi opened a brick-and-mortar location in Portland, OR. Created by Jewan Manuel in 2019, Plant Based Papi takes over a former coffee shop and offers a diverse menu with dishes such as beer-battered portobellos, jackfruit nachos, truffle mac and cheese, and spicy fried vegan chicken. Plant Based Papi offers takeout on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Customers can expect a rotating menu, such as tacos on Tuesdays, fettuccine alfredo with king oyster mushroom scallops on Saturdays, and vegan fried chicken French toast sandwiches on Sundays.  Making magic out of plants Originally from Flint, MI, Manuel was introduced to the culinary world when he started taking college courses at the Applewood Cafe culinary program in high school after which he went on to work at restaurants to pay for college classes. When Manuel moved from Los Angeles to Portland to work as a model, he began developing vegan recipes on his days off.

Krispy Kreme Launches First Vegan Doughnut in UK

Shares International doughnut chain Krispy Kreme is launching its first ever vegan doughnut, which will be available for pre-order on December 21 and delivery starting January 5 at locations across the United Kingdom. The new doughnut is a bespoke vegan recipe of the chain’s Original Glazed variety and is being launched in time for Veganuary a campaign that challenges people to go vegan for the month of January and beyond.  “We are excited to extend our range of iconic irresistibly original doughnuts with the launch of our first ever Vegan offering, available exclusively in the UK,” Louise Direito, Krispy Kreme UK and Ireland’s Head of Innovation, said. “We know January is a time that many are trying out new lifestyles and set ourselves the challenge to create a plant-based doughnut that is equally delicious as the original, with absolutely no compromise.”

Vegan Chain Plant Power Fast Food to Open 7 New Locations in 2021

Shares Vegan chain Plant Power Fast Food (PPFF) will open seven additional locations in California in 2021. Founded by entrepreneurs Mitch Wallis, Zach Vouga, and Jeffrey Harris, PPFF opened its first location in 2016 in San Diego serving vegan versions of American comfort food classics such as The Big Zac (a burger named after Vouga that replicates McDonald’s’ Big Mac), chicken tenders, fish filet sandwiches, milkshakes, desserts, and kids meals. Since then, the chain has rapidly expanded to seven locations in California, including one operating out of a former Carl’s Jr. drive-thru in Fountain Valley, CA. During the current expansion, PPFF will open its first Los Angeles location in Hollywood, its first Northern California location in Sacramento, along with outposts in Laguna Hills, San Clemente, and two additional San Diego area locations including one on campus at the University of California, San Diego.
