Set against the background of Elish’s hit song “Everything I Wanted,” the short public service announcement (PSA) tells the three interconnected stories behind a single fur coat, from the trapper who catches a fox, the seamstress who sews a coat from the pelt, and a shopper who buys it (played by Suvari). “I have always felt so strongly about the need to bring more awareness into what we choose to wear and consider ‘fashionable,’” Suvari said. “There is no need to wear animals, especially fur, and so I am truly grateful to be part of this project that helps convey such a powerful message showcasing how the fur industry negatively affects so many.”

Vegan NBA stars JaVale McGee, Chris Paul, and DeAndre Jordan have joined forces to form a new band called The Beyond Boys, in partnership with vegan meat company Beyond Meat. The musical trio released a music video for its first track, “12 Days of Christmas,” this week to promote plant-based foods during the holiday season.
“Getting into the holiday spirit, I thought it would be fun to put a twist on a classic Christmas hit featuring some of my favorite Beyond Meat products,” said McGee, who produced the track. “I hope everyone enjoys the new song in the same way I enjoyed producing it and is inspired to try more plant-based eats this holiday season.”

This month, vegan chain Neat Burger opened its third location in the Soho neighborhood of London, England. Neat Burger locations, including the newest Soho outpost, offer a menu consisting of vegan cheese burgers, Chick’n burgers, hot dogs, tater tots, ice cream and milkshakes, along with kids meals. The brand was created by seven-time Formula One champion and vegan advocate Lewis Hamilton in collaboration with hospitality group The Cream Group and Beyond Meat investor Tommaso Chiabara.
Global expansion
In 2019, Hamilton opened the first Neat Burger location in Central London and quickly expanded to a second location in the Camden neighborhood. He plans to open six additional Neat Burger locations in London and expand globally over the next two years with 14 international franchises in cities such as New York and Los Angeles.

Vegan meals cooked at home cost on average 40 percent less than meat- or fish-based meals and typically take one-third less time to prepare, a new study conducted by market research company Kantar found. The study was commissioned by United Kingdom-based vegan nonprofit Veganuary which challenges people to go vegan for the month of January and beyond. For the study, Kantar gathered data from online weekly meal diaries from approximately 11,000 people living in Britain for the 52-week period ending in August 2020. While an average lunch or dinner containing meat or fish cost $2.36 per person, a comparable plant-based meal cost only $1.41 per person. Kantar also found that a plant-based lunch was 37 percent quicker to prepare than a meat- or fish-based lunch, and plant-based dinners were 32 percent quicker to prepare than their animal-based counterparts.
