Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced that the ex gratia grant for physically disabled soldiers will be doubled, and financial assistance for non-pensioner ex-servicemen of World War I and II will be increased. The ex gratia grant for physically disabled soldiers with 76-100% disability will now be INR 40 lakh ($55,600), soldiers with 51-75% disability will receive INR 20 lakh, and soldiers with 25-50% disability will receive INR 10 lakh. The monthly financial assistance for non-pensioner ex-servicemen and their widows will be increased from INR 6,000 to INR 10,000.
According to a statement from the chief minister's office, Patnaik has ordered to provide free medical treatment to the injured and wished them a speedy recovery
