Ex gratia for martyr’s kin hiked to ₹1 crore in a major announcement for family members of those in armed forces from Haryana. Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar has proposed to increase the ex gratia relief for soldiers killed in action from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore. Haryana now on par with Punjab and Delhi.
The chief minister said there are allegations that there was delay in the arrival of fire tenders to the spot. "I will issue instructions for inquiry into the alleged delay in the arrival of fire engines and how the factory was operating in this area," he said.
The Delhi High Court has directed the city government to pay Rs 50,000 ex gratia to the family of a man who died from COVID-19 complications, rejecting the state s claim that his death was due to cardiac arrest. The court emphasized the hospital s confirmation of COVID-19 contraction and subsequent complications leading to the man s demise. Referring to a Supreme Court ruling, the high court underscored eligibility for compensation regardless of the cause of death stated in the certificate. Consequently, the court ordered immediate disbursement of compensation to the petitioner.
