They were on a camping trip in down anyville a remote part of the sierra. An Air National Guard helicopter crew found them last night. At about 8 p. M. , the crews spotted 41yearold Nicholas Vlahos and his 5yearold and 3 yearold children. Later they appeared to be okay in the back of an ambulance. A Deputy Sheriff says the father was driving a pickup when it slipped off an embankment in mud. He tried to get it back on the road unsuccessfully. But they had food and water. They dont need to go to the hospital. They have been checked out by paramedics so its good news. They are alive and well. Vlahos and his children were supposed to return to the bay area on tuesday night. Eventually other families members called the Sheriffs Office and said they were overdue. The area for nicholas lagos of oak land, his 5yearold son and 3yearold daughter. Friends of lagos said he is an experienced camper and had plenty of supplies. They were in an equipped Toyota Tundra pickup truck. We dont know if something happened to the truck but when the family was found tonight they were on foot. Lagos own barber shop is open in alameda. He and his family had been camping with family members. We were camping across the street here and at 11 00 he took off to do the back roads. That was tuesday morning.
