Europa Pools in Birkenhead A much-loved swimming pool in one part of Wirral is set to reopen at some point this summer. Many swimmers thought the fun pool at Birkenhead’s Europa Pools had gone for good after Wirral Council did not guarantee reopening it this summer in its March 1 budget meeting. That meeting confirmed that the competition pool at Europa would reopen, and it has now reopened, but to many it appeared to leave the question of the fun pool’s reopening up in the air with many believing it had been closed for good. Posting on the Facebook group Crimewatch Wirral, one person said: “I went into Europa Pools swimming baths and asked about the free swim for children, she told me that they are completely getting rid of the pool and slides and the downstairs pool for kids is being made into a gym.
