herbal tea with the justices. and it really just feels like this was an investigation that was deeply serious. i think frank s point is well taken. it actually will corrupt further investigation. it s deeply serious. only if one of the malefactors is an employee. it seems as though the justices really wanted to know and it is apiece of what we talked about when we discussed the ethics problem, which is it cannot be that everyone in the building is bound by ethical code except the nine justices. and just one other piece of this because you mentioned at the top that some of jodi s reporting is unsurprising. what s really surprising is how many people cooperated with jodi kantor s story this weekend. clerks don t talk about this. they are upset. employees are upset. that is new. yeah. and i didn t mean to diminish jodi kantor s reporting. it s incredible. i think i meant it in the spirit of an institution with 7% of
department of homeland security. i m not saying it s been unlike any other time. you want to get the quote in the press. we get that. but do you think there s something else here particularly with someone like george santos who is sort of trying to recast himself in a rush, not someone with an ethics problem, but as a matt gaetz style renegade and that s why he s under pressure. i m making this face because i m stunned looking at that circus of sound bites we ll see throughout the entire congress and seems as though these leaders, these electeds are more concerned with a quick sound bite that will go viral versus the american people actually understanding that they re not doing anything to advance the economy. that they re not doing anything on the critical issues that folks voted on in the midterms that dampen what was supposedly supposed to be the red wave. and so i think we ll see more of
the climate alarmist cult, prodrug legalization, she herself had her own ethics problem, a groping incident, ended up paying money to settle that case. on abortion, no restrictions, on the 2020 protests, she said they re not going to use covid as a reason to prevent protests but can t use it as an excuse for political organizing, instead of criticizing the violence. is she out of touch with the people of new mexico? sean, it was apparent on the debate stage how out of touch she is, not only from crime and personal finance, and education, sean, 51st in education. our kids stayed out of school some of the longest duration times of any children in the country. we re seeing people across the country talking about the shutdowns. here in new mexico, they were even worse.
thomas and alito dissented. they refused to hear the texas lawsuits and alito and thomas were the only two that felt the court should have taken up the case. what kind of stakes in terms of the reputation and integrity and perception of a court that dropped 20 points in the polling in terms of public trusting credibility, what is the writing on this? that s probably why. he should have recused himself. from all three. it does point to the fact that there is an ethics problem on the supreme court. the we had norms about supreme court justices supposed to declare conflict of interest. there is no law that says they have. to and it s been an exception. and a drag on the court. i have a slightly different take on ginni thomas which bothers me and disturbs me when i look at those e-mails. it s about a sickness in the heart of the republic. this is an educated woman, a woman who campaigned against
sexual harassment charges. if that s not an ethics problem i don t know what is. todd: really in the weeds when you start doing stuff like that and that is why the investigation is unbelievable. there is repercussions because of that. brian s report would be very different. todd: we can all agree with that. we have a personal element, you are a friend, not just a guest. we know your family and we know how difficult this has been for you and you never want to do this, we felt some sense of relief for you. it will not bring your in-laws back but it is something. janice: i will never forget them. at the end of the day can t forget those who cannot speak for themselves right now.
