Long Becomes Unanimous National Player of the Week

May 18, 2021 PHOENIX – Sun Devil Baseball s Ethan Long made it a unanimous decision on Tuesday as he pulled in National Player of the Week honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Perfect game, wrapping up a clean sweep of the awards after yesterday s Collegiate Baseball News recognition.   Long was also named the Pac-12 Player of the Week for the third time this season yesterday as well.    It is the first time this season Long has been recognized by Perfect Game and the NCBWA in the weekly award presentation.    Long is the only player in the Pac-12 to earn multiple Pac-12 Player of the Week nods this season, let alone three.  He is the first Pac-12 player to win the honor three times in a season since Hunter Bishop in 2019. Andrew Vaughn of Cal was the last non-Sun Devil to accomplish the feat thrice in one season in 2018 when he was eventually named the Pac-12 Player of the Year.

Sun Devils drag down high-flying Bears, postseason hopes

Sun Devils drag down high-flying Bears, postseason hopes Josh Kahen/File Last Updated 1 hour Ago Up 3-1 on the Sun Devils in the seventh inning of Saturday’s game, Cal had put itself in the driver seat to take arguably its most important series of the year. The Bears, who had already taken game one and were on a six-game winning streak, were riding high. But baseball is a cruel sport. And one swing of the bat later, all the momentum came crashing down. A two-run shot by ASU’s hottest hitter, Ethan Long, tied the game, spoiling an absolute gem of a start by Cal’s Sean Sullivan. An RBI double an inning later and another two-run bomb from Long in the ninth proved to be the dagger in the back of the Bears, who would be outscored 10-2 in the series following Long’s first homer.

Penn State students believe university is green but has a long way to go

For Penn State students, eating at the dining halls or the HUB-Robeson Center is second nature. Students can either order their food to-go or they wait in line buffet style – both of which use takeout containers as a means of packaging the food. Although using one takeout container per day doesn’t seem like much, when thousands of students order food online and wait in dining hall lines, it adds up. Ultimately, many Penn State students said the coronavirus has impacted Penn State’s sustainability efforts. Grace Sibley said food waste and plastic waste is a “big concern” on campus right now.
