Covid19 crisis. California now house more than 10,000 cases of covid19 and 233 people have died. Los angeles county has the most confirmed cases with more than 4000 followed by Santa Clara County at more than 1000 and San Diego County at 849. A south bay nursing home has at least a halfdozen residents and staff who tested positive for the virus. Jesse gary joins us now in san jose with the details and what is being done to keep the problem from getting worse. Reporter late this afternoon officials with the Canyon Springs postacute care facility increase the number of covid19 cases they are reporting. They reported three, now its cials to call relatives of d residents and as a precaution, tell them to come get the relatives, bring them home for a 14 day quarantine. Officials say multiple positive test results were revealed, one as recently as this week, two residents and four staffers are infected with covid19. Intensive care. The governor said those statewide numbers represent an increase of 17 in total cases and 13 in hospitalizations since yesterday. The state is working to obtain about 5,000 ventilators. The governor addressed concerns here in the bay area. The state has leased space to care for patients. We need to do more. And that includes san mateo county. Reporter he said he expects an announcement in the next day or two on whether Public Schools in this state will resume this school year. Heed in his view, that will not happen. The state is looking to put out guidance on whether people should care face masks even if theyre not sick.
