Robin Gurwitch knows all too well about loss.
Gurwitch was working as a psychologist and program director at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center on April 19, 1995.
After the bombing at the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, she was among the first responders to provide mental health services to victims and their families.
Now a professor at Duke University Medical Center, Gurwitch is one of the nation’s leading authorities on grieving, with a resume that includes working with victims of 9/11, the Boston Marathon bombing and a long list of other tragedies.

A University of Central Oklahoma art professor and her students have found a special way to recognize the work of our local health care workers in taking care of us during this pandemic.
I really love the message and symbolism behind a project that Kelly Temple started and involved her UCO College of Fine Art and Design students in crafting: The group created nearly 300 small, wearable hand-shaped medals for our health care workers as part of the international collaboration called the Hand Medal Project. Temple has a master’s degree in fine arts and is a metalsmith and assistant professor of jewelry.
