Despite being on the receiving end of "baseless red tagging," Vice President Leni Robredo threw her support behind the campaign of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to end the long-drawn out insurgency problem in the country.

Jose Faustino Jr., on Friday urged all members of the military to join the Metrobank Foundation Inc.'s (MBFI) Search for Outstanding Filipinos. "As the Chief-of-Staff, I urge all the members of the AFP to join the Metrobank Foundation in the search for the recipients of this award for 2022. Let us take pride in our fellow soldiers and nominate who we think are most laudable," Faustino said in a statement. Since 1985, the Metrobank Foundation has honored a total of 685 Outstanding Filipinos 372 teachers, 163 soldiers, and 150 police officers. Eligible to join in the search are soldiers, police officers, and teachers who have a minimum of 10 years of service with at least "very satisfactory" rating in the last decade. Those set to retire must have at least three remaining years of service. They must have exhibited good moral character and must not have been charged guilty

Mempin formally assumed the post of deputy chief of staff for Civil-Military Operations or J-7 Wednesday. He replaced Maj. Gen. Benedict Arevalo who was appointed as 3rd Infantry Division commander. Vice Admiral Erick Kagaoan, AFP deputy chief-of-staff, presided over the Change-of-Chief of Office ceremonies which took place at Silid Lapu-Lapu at AFP headquarters in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. "With his impressive track record, we are certain that Brig. Gen. Mempin is equipped with a wide range of knowledge and wisdom that will further steer OJ7 into achieving both its office strategic goals and its Civil Military Operations mandate," he added, Mempin is the former commander of the 103rd Infantry Brigade, 10th Infantry Division. Vice Admiral Erick Kagaoan, AFP deputy chief of staff, presided over the donning of ranks ceremony for the promoted colonels and reserve colonels belonging to the Technical and Administrative Service (TAS).
“We honor the distinguished officers who have exemplified our fundamental virtues of patriotism, integrity and service, thereby creating a reputable name for themselves as dependable and competent leaders of our organization,” Kagaoan said in his speech.
The promoted officers were composed of five officers from the AFP Medical Corps; five from the Veterinary Corps; three from the Medical Administrative Corps; nine from the Nurse Corps; five from the Judge Advocate General Service; two from the Corps of Professors; four from the Dental Service; and four from the Chaplain Service.
