  That’s how the parents of 25-year-old Cadet First Class Janrey Artus described their son, who topped the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Masaligan Class of 2021. Cadet First Class janrey Artus, valedictorian, PMA Masaligan Class of 2021   The young Artus, who hails from Barangay Guintorilan, San Enrique, Negros Occidental is the third among the four children of Florencio, 62, a retired soldier, and Jocelyn, 62, a retired teacher.   According to Florencio, it didn’t cross Janrey’s mind to enter the military service. It was his eldest brother, who graduated from PMA in 2017, who encouraged him to try taking the entrance examination that year.

(photo grab from the PMA fb page)  BAGUIO CITY, May 3(PIA) The Philippine Military Academy top officials presented today the best performing cadets of the PMA “MASALIGAN” Class of 2021 who will graduate next Monday, May 10. Topping the 164-strong graduating class is Cadet First Class Janrey Artus of San Enrique, Negros Occidental. Artus whose father is a retired soldier and his mother a retired teacher, will graduate as Summa Cum Laude. As class valedictorian, he will receive the Presidential Saber. He will also receive the Philippine Navy Saber, the Australian Defence Award, Spanish Armed Forces Award and the Navy Professional Plaque.
