Proposed state budget cuts in California could significantly impact hundreds of local organizations, affecting the services they provide to the community.
Because of assistance from Second Harvest case specialist Marisol Cisneros-Lopez, 36-year-old Santa Cruz County resident Yesenia Hernandez receives monthly CalFresh benefits, which increase the amount of fresh fruit and vegetables she can buy for her family.
“Nourishing the community takes a village,” says CEO Erica Padilla-Chavez. “We are fortunate that Santa Cruz County is filled with people who want to give back.”
"You have a baby here or you come to our baby class or you're going to have a baby, Nourish is for you," said Executive Director of the Watsonville Community Hospital Foundation June Ponce. "Come, let's make sure that from 0-5 (years old) your baby is well taken care of."
