Bob Bjorklund, president of Bjorklund Compensation Consulting, LLC has worked with Becker County for nearly 30 years and after talking with him commissioners decided to move ahead in several areas.
The county will stay on its existing band-and-grade system for now, which may give it more flexibility to retain key employees like assistant county attorneys, deputies and corrections officers.
The current system tends to assess a flat rate per business, while the new system will enable the county to dig into the amount of garbage actually generated.
Commissioner Erica Jepson had strong objections to it and questioned why two new positions were created without prior County Board knowledge or approval.
