Instead of solving the overall problem, the proposal would essentially just raise the pay of the dozen or so highest-paid employees and leave everyone else where they were.
The county will stay on its existing band-and-grade system for now, which may give it more flexibility to retain key employees like assistant county attorneys, deputies and corrections officers.
