Our country and every municipality is looking at issues of aging and the ways in which the values of the country, state, local, exercise those into services and understandings of the way people age and the kinds of services they need. I am wondering if you can give a short history of what department of aging and Adult Services here is in San Francisco. Certainly. San francisco has a long history of providing services for older adults and adults with disabilities. We are a leader in that. The department has been around for a long time but came together with services in 2000. Our Biggest Program is in Home Supportive Services which provides home care for 22,000 people in San Francisco. We do other things as well. So the department in and of itself is 17 years old. Yes. The department itself. The city was providing the services well before that. Yes. So what is new on the horizon . There are a lot of things on the horizon that are new. One of the things thats new and i think ramona and i
Would like to introduce you to the rep of the rabbi of the organization. Welcome. Good to be here. Lets jump right in and asked, what does this do . This means hues and it brings people together from the Israeli Society. People from the old orthodox world, the orthodox world, i am a reformed rabbi people from eastern backgrounds and european backgrounds. People from different socioeconomical statuses. We are there to Work Together in order to create a group that will deepen the pluralistic nature of Israeli Society. In israel, when we think of the word pluralistic, what does that mean to you as an israeli and is really culture israel culture. It means to get to know others. Others from the society and to be openminded and see that there are different people around us. We usually judge them by the way they look, think, walk or what they are wearing or what kind of language they are speaking. At the end of the day, when you get them into the room together and you find out you have things

The Jewish Film Institute is now the umbrella name for Media Arts Organization that brings the jewish Film Festival to San Francisco. 35 years. What are some of the sub themes . I know every year you have a freedom of expression award for director. Fill us in on what this years festival looks like. This is actually a really wonderful year for our 35th anniversary. We have some new things. One of our new things is we have added a new local spotlight, and unbelievably the star of the local spotlight is one of the cofounders of the jewish Film Festival. Janice plot kin is coming with her film she produced called plastic man, arts and life of jerry wash barish, one of the first donors to the Film Festival. He also makes wonderful art out of plastic.
