understood the gravity of the situation because he didn t really seem to appreciate it. had this letter been released on official department of justice letterhead, it would have falsely informed all americans, including those who might be inclined to come to washington on january 6th, that president trump s election fraud allegations were likely very real. the whole idea here, that this letter was intended to give a stamp of approval of the u.s. justice department to trump s made-up charge of election fraud. it would therefore give republican state officials whether they were super trumpy, maga officials or not it would give them cover. it might have even give them something of what they felt like was a duty to overturn election results in their states. where did this letter come from now? we got some surprise revelations on that today, some new clarity on that point
the scheme that clark and president trump had been cooking up, trump will get rid of the attorney general and install jeff clark in his chase because clark said we then use the justice department to overturn the election and keep trump in power. we know the january 6th investigators have been looking at clark, we know that attempted to depose him, but as we learned in today s hearing and saw in video excerpts from clark s deposition he was not particularly forth coming with the investigators. in fact, they told us today at the hearing that he pled the fifth 125 times while they deposed him. we also know that the justice department has been running its own parallel criminal investigation of at least some of the efforts to try to overturn the election. just yesterday, we reported on a bun of of new subpoenas delivered by federal agents to republican officials in several states people involved in the fake electors scheme, fake trump electors delivered to vice president mike pence at the c
[inaudible] but this was being conducted by trump personally. yeah, the first versions of this oval office meeting came from journalists, including bob woodward and robert costa. but the dialogue today was much more dense. it was much more full. i was never fully satisfied, reading the woodward cost the account of what happened. when i couldn t decide was, why didn t trump do it? why didn t he do it? and i believe it s all on steve engel what s shows him is, this will be the bigger news story. new story, yeah. your letter to georgia will be a small story. this will be a bigger story. and that s what the guy understands. he thought, yeah, that s right. my thing won t be page one, which is the mission. so, it won t work. i don t think he cared about the graveyard. i don t think he cared how many

and if any were pardoned they could be turned around the next day and testify against president trump and plead the fifth. did he not pardon them because they would hurt him? the self interest really seems to be a big issue here. this would hurt him. and all of the talk about pardons, this isn t bed, bath and beyond and you can t say a pardon for all time and wrap yourself in it and the nixon example is interesting, you have to write it down, so your point, if you start writing down what your pardon is, obstruction of a proceeding, a plan inside the government to do selective prosecution, as we were discussing earlier, to abuse investigative findings, those are all things coming out of the white house of the oval office of donald trump and writing it
