ISLAMABAD:
The Privatisation Commission (PC) board on Thursday could not take decision on privatisation of power distribution companies due to Ministry of Energy’s failure to improve the poor condition of these companies over the past two and a half years.
The Power Division has shown its inability to even prepare a roadmap for the privatisation of power distribution companies, saying it lacked the “capacity”, showed official documents.
Firdous Shamim Naqvi resigns as Sindh Assembly’s opposition leader

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s senior leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi on Wednesday submitted his resignation to the Sindh Assembly secretary as the Sindh Assembly’s opposition leader. PTI has appointed Haleem Adil Shaikh to succeed him as the opposition leader.

The federal government will be increasing power tariff by Rs1.95 per unit, Energy Minister Omar Ayub announced Thursday. Ayub made the announcement at a joint press conference in Islamabad with Planning Minister Asad Umar and PM s aide Tabish Gauhar. But the energy minister didn’t specify a date for the increase in power tariff. He blamed the past governments for the hike.
