Naqvi resigns as Sindh Assembly's opposition leader

Naqvi resigns as Sindh Assembly’s opposition leader National January 21, 2021 KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s senior leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi on Wednesday submitted his resignation to the Sindh Assembly secretary as the Sindh Assembly’s opposition leader. PTI has appointed Haleem Adil Shaikh to succeed him as the opposition leader. However, media reports suggest that the leadership of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P), which is one of the allies of PTI and its coalition partner in the federal government, has expressed reservations over Shaikh’s nomination for the post. Bilal Ghaffar, an MPA from Karachi, has already been made the PTI parliamentary leader in the Sindh Assembly, a post which Shaikh had when Naqvi was serving as the opposition leader.
