Indoor Volleyball Earns USMC-AVCA Team Academic Award

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The Florida State Volleyball Team was one of several collegiate programs to earn the United States Marine Corps-American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award, announced on Monday by the AVCA. The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale.

Volleyball Announces 2022 Schedule

2022 SCHEDULE TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Florida State Volleyball Head Coach Chris Poole has announced the Seminoles’ 29-match regular-season schedule, which includes nearly half of its matches against NCAA Tournament opponents from a season ago. Florida State’s 18-match grind in the Atlantic Coast Conference features a home match vs. reigning national semifinalist Louisville on Sept. 25 at 2 p.m. Other home matches vs. NCAA Tournament teams in the conference from 2021 include Oct. 5 vs. Miami, Nov. 6 vs. Georgia Tech and Nov. 18 vs. North Carolina. The conference home opener comes against Notre Dame on Sept. 23 at 6:30 p.m.

Volleyball Welcomes Alejandra Perez

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – Florida State Volleyball Head Coach Chris Poole has announced the addition of libero Alejandra Perez, a talented transfer from Stetson who will utilize her bonus year to play for the Seminoles. “We are fortunate to pick up another ball control player this late,” Poole said of Perez. “Ale was a small outside hitter and defensive specialist for Stetson most of her career and played as a libero her senior season. She has a tremendous amount of experience with passing and defense.”

Top Service Highlighted at Golden Nole Awards

Tallahassee, Fla.   –  The 28th Golden Nole Awards were presented on Monday night by the FSU Student Athlete Advisory Council inside Doak Campbell Stadium. The event highlights the contributions made in the community and recognizes student-athletes that have been exceptional leaders in and out of the athletics arena.  “It was a perfect night to celebrate our student-athletes,” FSU director of student-athlete development and events said. “We haven’t been able to gather like this in years and to be back together in this setting is incredible. Seminoles Close Out Season at Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. (Seminoles.com) – The Florida State Volleyball Team ended its impressive 2021 season with a 3-0 loss (20-25, 22-25, 17-25) at 10th-seeded Nebraska in front of nearly 8,000 fans at the Bob Devaney Sports Center on Saturday night. Despite ending the season, the Seminoles (20-10) returned to the 20-win column for the first time since 2016 in a year where expectations were unknown due to having their youngest team in 22 years. Everyone on the 2021 roster experienced their first NCAA postseason win on Friday when it swept Kansas State in the first round. “You know, you’re always disappointed when you lose, but I’m not disappointed in the effort of this team not only in the match but in the season,” FSU Head Coach Chris Poole said. “It’s a very young team; it’s the youngest I’ve had since 1994 and the fewest hitters I’ve had since 1994, and so for us to go through the season and accomplish the things we did, it was a miracle season.” Vie
