We anticipate that this snow will become a lot heavier and steadier through the late morning. And really later on this afternoon and evening and into saturday. Thats when those blizzard conditions are really going to ramp up back here at home. Right now, were in the 40s and in the 50s, were not going to grow too far from where we are th
And your saturday, this is going to be the most significant snow of the season thus far. Snow kicked off this morning already, but our heaviest of it is friday through saturday. Now this is going to pile up above 5,000 feet. 5 to 12 feet of snow. That includes Donner Summit. Roadways are going to be impassable. If you had plans on gelting to the sierra, cancel those plans, it is just a nogo. And if youre already up in the sierra, make sure to have emergency kit with you in several days worth of food. In the case, the power goes out to its not just the heavy snow, but strong winds gusting as high as 80 to 90 Miles Per Hour. As for the bay area are impact is going to be a little less severe, but it is going to impact us. Nonetheless 50s for our current temperatures and thats where well land for a daytime highs later today. Bit breezy out there so far. But as far as rain goes, most of us have just seen light showers, really heavy mist at this point. Coastal areas in north bay. You are seeing wet conditions on the roads. So take it a little slower in these areas. You can clearly see the where the rainfall is. A already is up along the north coast and you see all that speckled cloud cover offshore. These are called cellular clouds right here. And oftentimes for when its cold and unsettled, this is a sure sign of some Thunderstorm Development thats likely to work its way on into the bay area later today and on into tomorrow, too. You can actually see some of those thunderstorms developing later on today. And future cast those deeper areas of green and notice that blue becomes a lot more widespread leading into tomorrow and saturday. Thats because cold air rushes in to the bay area and in particular, the sierra resulting in very heavy snowfall. Blizzard warnings in effect the next several days. Roadways going
Just evolve and well start off with a look at the conditions in the sierra right now because there is a lot of snow on the roadways that were expecting and we could see a lot more of this and overturned big rig truck blocking all the lanes on eastbound 80. Thats is from earlier this morning. The chp sharing this video of clearing that big rig and there is more of that kind of nasty weather. 2 cop. Here is a look now at conditions in the bay area.
