DARTMOUTH Nursing students at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth may have missed out on a conventional curriculum this year, but what they gained in experience is invaluable.
Mark W. Gregg, a junior at UMD, has helped out at testing sites and vaccination clinics around the SouthCoast as part of his community health class, administering over 150 vaccines at the VF Outlet in Dartmouth and the Liberal Club in Fall River. For his clinical, he helped out at a local site for eight hours every Tuesday, resulting in an average total of 70 hours for the semester. While we missed out on some opportunities, we were blessed with the other side, Gregg said.

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Students are always finding ways to give back to the community. Junior Elizabeth Chin is doing her part through her new club, Operation Smile. Operation Smile targets raising money for cleft lip and palate surgeries for kids in undeveloped countries.
Chin, who transferred from Mount Saint Mary’s, found her passion for Operation Smile when she was a member of the club at her previous school. Seeing how much her classmates learned and benefited from Operation Smile, she revived the club, at Governor Livingston.
Chin said, “It was a great organization to get involved with and I have always enjoyed doing service activities.”
