a woman was crossing at the same time. she was in the crosswalk. at this point we believe she was approximately 95% of the way across the street when the bus, left side of the bus, contacted her. ryan brody was across the street when the accident occurred. we saw a victim being pulled out of the bus and then they were wrapping her. obviously it seemed like she had passed away. the woman, believed to be in her late 20s or 30s, died at the scene. investigators sorted through the scene for hours. witnesses say the muni driver was visibly shaken as they saw him exit the bus. police placed him in a patrol car. the driver remained on scene. he s cooperating with investigators and as far as policy he will be tested for any signs of impairment. police say he didn t immediately exhibit any signs that he was impaired. this is the ninth pedestrian fatality in san francisco so far this year. elizabeth of walk san francisco says that s nine too many. every year over 800 peop

near highway 87 and capitol expressway where dead birds were discovered to be victims of the virus. mosquitos trapped by the vector control officers in the area also tested positive for west nile. the estimates are that somewhere between one in 30 and one in 500 mosquitos is carrying the virus out there. reporter: that s enough to post a significant health risk to humans. people bitten by infected mosquitos can catch the flu- like west nile fever or more seriously encephalitis or meningitis. it s in the public s best interests to reduce the risk of this very significant west nile virus. reporter: that s where the fogging comes in. beginning next tuesday night at 11:00, vector control workers will be using these machines to treat neighborhoods with low doses of a natural pesticide called pyrethrine. the way it works is these microscopic droplets if enough of them stick to a mosquito it gets enough pyrethrine to knock it down. reporter: it should be finished by morn
