Journalist Soumya Vishwanathan was killed by three men after a high speed car chase in 2008, and the case has stirred up again after a Delhi court announced its verdict.
The senior citizen’s daughter allegedly hatched the murder plan along with a property dealer to get possession of her mother’s two-storey house. The duo convinced a minor to commit the crime, the police said.
The high court was hearing an appeal by the state of Delhi against a 2019 trial court order acquitting the paternal grandmother and father of a two-year-old girl in a case pertaining to her death in 2014.
The chargesheet said the accused allegedly started planning the murder after the victim came to him with her friend a day before the attack and the duo threatened him not to harass her.
