128 flats approved for Poole despite none being affordable

BCP Council’s planning committee approved the scheme for Arndale House, off The George roundabout, which would see 128 flats and commercial units replace the existing building. Councillors said they were “incredulous” that no affordable housing was included but agreed to grant planning permission, saying it complied with council policy. Poole Property Investments submitted its application for the site, also known as Kingland House, in 2018, originally proposing 225 flats be built.

Poole Property Investments has applied for permission to demolish and replace the buildings off the eastern edge of The George roundabout for more than 100 apartments and commercial space. And BCP Council’s planning committee has been recommended to approve the scheme ahead of its meeting next week to help make up its shortfall in new homes. The planning application was submitted in 2018 and originally proposed the construction of 225 flats on the site behind the Dolphin Shopping Centre.

Hamworthy Recreation FC given promotion boost after floodlight and stands plans approved

Photo: Google Maps EFFORTS by a Canford Magna-based football club to secure promotion have been given a boost after plans for new floodlights and spectator stands were approved. BCP Council has granted planning permission for the work at the Hamworthy Club – the home of Hamworthy Recreation FC. The club said the improvements would enable it to be promoted to the Wessex League and “provide additional facilities for local sport”. Playing its home games at the Hamworthy Club, Hamworthy Recreation either won or finished as runner-up in the Dorset Premier League several times in recent years.
