collect. from the cnn center in atlanta, georgia, this is your cnn sunday morning. thank you for being with us. as always, we like to say good morning to all of our forces watching us on the american forces network. thank you for all you do. let s start with a picture from the air race crash in nevada. could give investigators information about exactly what happened. see this? this is something, it appears, breaking off the tail of that plane that crashed. this was just after the plane veered out of control and crashed into the crowd. federal investigators are checking this out. a component has been recovered in the area where that was observed, but i think it s critical that we have not identified the component. it s been examined. so we don t know what the component is or even if it came from this particular aircraft. we are clearly going to focus on that, and that s part of the informational gathering that s going on right now. nine people died in that crash. seven
than the testimony in court? none. none. he s set to be put to death next wednesday unless they grant clemency. no two hours, john boehner will reveal the republican plan to create jobs and close loopholes. they said they could go along with some of the president s jobs plans until they found he would raise taxes on wealthy americans. the line for first time jobless claims jumped 11,000 for a total of 428,000. it s the highest number of first-time claims since june. the postmaster general is outlining a plan that could cost 150,000 jobs. they want to close more than 300 mail processing facilities, saturday deliver could end, first class mail would be slower to arrive. they are $10 billion in the hole this fiscal year. in los angeles today, lawyers in dr. conrad murray s manslaughter trial are going over juror questionnaires with the judge. the final phase of juror selection is next week. they say murray had a hand in michael jackson s death. jacqueline kennedy is

ground zero where it was heavily damaged. the white spots turned gray. it had rips and tears. all this year jeff and his group, new york says thank you, have been going around the country repairing it spot by spot with flags that have flown over other disaster sites and things like that. this portion of the flag flew over pearl harbor when it was bombed. this section right here, this flew at martin luther king jr. s funeral. that was the georgia patch. you can see on the far side there there s active duty military people. they are sewing a part of the flag that flew over the pentagon on september 11th. and, you know, the spirit here, nobody here is talking about terrorists or war or anything. everybody here is talking about the day after september 11th when we saw so much unity and so much bravery by first responders. and that s really the spirit i think that what they want to do is reclaim that from history and be able to have that be as much a part of the story as terrorist
good morning, from new york city. welcome to a special edition of your cnn sunday morning on this september 11th, 2011, the tenth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. hello to you all. i m t.j. holmes this morning coming to you from a spot overlooking ground zero. we ll have a lot more for you from here and this morning soledad o brien will be joining me throughout the morning. she s at riverside park on the upper west side of manhattan. that is where firefighters are gathering to pay tribute to their fellow firefighters who died in the attacks. we check in with her in just a bit. also, as always, on this sunday morning we d like to say a special good morning to our service men and women watching us right now on the american forces network. thank you for being here, thank you for what you do and certainly on this day, a day that really changed the course of many of your lives. today we are going to remember the victims of 9/11. of course, in new york, washington and pennsylvania.
