Edwards County Farm Bureau Seeking Scholarship Applicants

Edwards County Farm Bureau is seeking applicants for their young leaders, scholarship as well as for foundation scholarships and vocational and trade scholarships.

At the Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting held in Chicago, two local county Farm Bureaus were recognized with the prestigious Pinnacle Award for excellence in programming and services to their members. The Edwards County Farm Bureau was recognized with the award for Membership Group 1 and the Wayne County Farm Bureau was recognized in Membership Group 2. The Pinnacle Award is presented to the top county Farm Bureau in each membership group for their outstanding programming activities. It is the highest-level award given by the organization and recognizes overall program excellence, planning, and implementation, as they relate to the county Farm Bureau's goals and priorities. The Wayne County Farm Bureau was also recognized with the Liberty Bell Award for exceptional advocacy at the local, state, and national legislative levels. The Edwards County Farm Bureau is sponsoring the eleventh annual "Bob's Tree." "Bob's Tree," is a Christmas tree dedicated to former Edwards County Farm Bureau manager Bob Mason. Bob had a passion for several things, two of them being children and Farm Bureau. In addition, even after retirement, he always brought a Christmas Tree into the Farm Bureau office. To help those who are less fortunate, and as a way to honor Bob, the "Bob's Tree" project was created. The community is urged to bring in new, homemade, or gently used scarfs, hats, and gloves for children and adults, to be displayed on a Christmas tree, into the Farm Bureau office from now until December 2, 2022. The items will then be donated to needy children in the county. All who donate a scarf, hat, or gloves will be entered into a drawing for a gift card. FCHS Special Board Meeting Fairfield Community High School District #225 will hold a Special Board Meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, November 16 at 4:00 p.m. in the FCHS District Office. The focus of the meeting will be to approve the application of a school maintenance grant for FY23. ### IECC Board Meeting The Illinois Eastern Community Colleges Board will meet tonight at 6:15 pm at Wabash Valley College in Main Hall 101. Items up for discussion include Articulation Agreements with EIU, ISU, McKendree, and SIU. Also, up for approval are the 2022 Estimated Tax Levy Resolution, Marathon Property Tax Agreement, FY 2022 Audit, the Annual Financial Report, Purchase of two 2019 Wabash Trailers, and a Resolution to Invest in ISDLAF. The board will also enter into an Executive Session. ### Court Report 33-year-old Todd W. Ray entered an admission to violation of probation in Wayne County Court. Fairfield Veterans Day Parade The Fairfield Veterans Day Parade will be held November 5th at 2:00. The day will begin with a breakfast at St. Edwards Catholic Church from 7-9 AM. The breakfast will be for all veterans and their spouses. Please call Dian Zurliene at 516-1808 to RSVP. Festivities will begin at 1:00 PM with a flag raising at Freedom Park. Elizabeth Gonzalez will sing the National Anthem, followed by a concert by the Roasted Chestnuts. Parade line up will start at 1:00 PM on North First Street and will line up as entries arrive from Court Street north toward North Side School on a first come, first served basis. 2 Semi trailers will be provided for the veterans to ride on. We would like to encourage everyone to come out to see the parade and honor our veterans. Following the parade there will be a meal for parade participants at the Fairfield Elks Club, sponsored by FNB.
