Grill lights up a Valley home s porch

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Capital City Fire Rescue was called to douse a porch fire Friday evening at a resident in the nine thousand block of Long Run Drive in the Valley. Assistant Fire Chief Ed Quinto says they got the call at about 7:30.  He said a grill set the front porch on fire.  Apparently the grill had a gas leak and caught while they were using it to cook steaks.  We were able to knock the fire down. Damage was confined to the grill and some of the home s siding.  The chief estimated damage to $1,800. No one was injured, he says.
