Three international flights, scheduled to land at Kochi International Airport on Thursday morning, were diverted to the Thiruvanathapuram airport due to unusually hevay fog around the city.
A Low Pressure Area formed over the Southeast Bay of Bengal adjacent to the South Andaman Sea on Wednesday afternoon. It will move westward and is likely to become a depression by Thursday. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said in a report on Wednesday night that it will continue with the same intensity and direction till the 17 of this month.
Under such conditions, the storm will weaken to a well marked low pressure area by late tonight. Further, it is likely to dissipate over the open waters of Central and West Central Arabian Sea in the next 36 hours. The storm is drifting away from the Indian coastline and therefore becomes inconsequential for any noteworthy weather.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted a depression over East-central and adjoining Southeast Arabian Sea which is likely to intensify further into a deep depression by Thursday morning.
