Cold wave in India: Very dense fog was reported in isolated parts of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, west Uttar Pradesh and northwest Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday late night, according to the IMD.
In its letter, the airport has said the enforcement of GRAP IV in Delhi, a measure to combat air pollution, had a disruptive impact on the execution of work after it commenced.
Delhi has been experiencing plunging temperatures and dense fog, due to which today, more than 100 flights at the Delhi IGI Airport have been delayed and close to 80 flights have been cancelled.
As the national capital experiencing severe cold, reaching the lowest minimum temperature of the winter season on Sunday, and low visibility due to dense fog conditions, authorities at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) diverted 10 flights and delayed nearly 100, besides cancelling several.
Poor weather conditions and low visibility disrupted flights at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. Two flights, including an international one from Singapore by Indigo with 63 passengers, were diverted to other airports. Additionally, another Indigo flight originating from Delhi was also affected by the adverse weather conditions.
