A teenage student was hit by a vehicle while trying to get on her school bus Friday.
The Sulphur Police Department is investigating the crash, which happened on East Burton Street near West Mimosa. Police say the bus was stopped, with its lights and stop signs out, when the vehicle hit the girl as she was crossing the street.
The child was transported to a local hospital; a relative told KPLC that the child suffered a shattered arm, a collapsed lung, seven to eight broken ribs and a lacerated spleen. She was listed in critical but stable condition.

SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) - Itâs a long road to recovery for a 15-year-old who was struck by a vehicle Friday morning in Sulphur while boarding her school bus. A sign, now on the corner of East Burton Street and West Mimosa, where 15-year-old Grace Broussard was hit crossing the street to her bus.
Her family wrote a statement as sheâs recovering.

SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) - A 15-year-old student was struck by a vehicle Friday morning while boarding a school bus on E. Burton Street near West Mimosa, according to the Sulphur Police Department.
The incident happened around 6:45 a.m., according to Capt. Jason Gully, with the Sulphur Police Department. He said the school bus was stopped in the westbound lane with its lights and stop signs functioning. The driver of a Ford truck traveling eastbound failed to stop and struck the girl as she was crossing the street.

A child was struck by a vehicle Friday morning while getting onto a school bus in Sulphur.
The Sulphur Police Department said they were investigating the vehicle pedestrian crash on January 22 on East Burton Street near West Mimosa.
According to police, the child was transported to a local hospital. The extent of injuries is unknown at this time.
Traffic was being detoured around the scene and drivers were asked to avoid the area while officials were on scene.
