Shreveport Man Arrested For Injury Of Infant
A Shreveport man was arrested following an infant sustaining severe head injuries in his care.
On December 23, 2020, Shreveport Police responded to the 4900 block of Durham Place relative to a child suffering a severe injury. When officers arrived, they learned that a 5-month-old infant had sustained severe head trauma. The child was immediately transported to Ochsner LSU Health by the Shreveport Fire Department with life-threatening injuries.
Violent Crimes and Youth Services Detectives were present at both the hospital and the crime scene. Ochsner Medical staff advised investigators that the infant suffered severe, life-threatening trauma to the head and body. Detectives interviewed multiple witnesses and family members of the infant. Based on their investigation, it was determined that the infant’s biological father, 32 year old Tyshun Washington was responsible for the injuries to the infant.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Police are working to learn more about severe injuries that put an infant in the hospital and his father behind bars.
Tyshun Washington, 32, faces one count of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile.
Officers got the call to the 4900 block of Durham Place just before 4 p.m. regarding a severely injured infant.

When they got there, they learned that the 5-month-old had severe head trauma, and was immediately taken to a Shreveport hospital for treatment. According to authorities, the infant’s injuries are considered life-threatening.
