The child was able to grab and discharge the firearm, nearly killing the toddler. Officers located a 3-year-old child that had sustained a gunshot wound to the head.  The child was immediately transported to Ochsner LSU Health with what was considered life-threatening injuries.

Man accused of cruelty to juvenile after infant sustains broken bones St. Martin Parish Sheriff s Office Cole Horton and last updated 2021-01-14 18:19:24-05 ST MARTIN PARISH — A Breaux Bridge man has been arrested, accused of cruelty to juveniles after alleged physical abuse of an infant resulted in broken bones. St. Martin Parish Sheriff Becket Breaux says that on December 25, 2020, deputies responded to a local hospital in reference to a report of alleged physical abuse of an infant. An investigation into the allegations was initiated, and during the course of the investigation, Breaux says that deputies learned that the infant had sustained several broken bones. Following that investigation an arrest warrant was obtained for 25-year-old Cole Horton of Breaux Bridge.

Breaux Bridge Man Accused in Alleged Infant Abuse on Christmas 25-year-old Cole Horton of Breaux Bridge has been arrested for allegedly putting an infant into the hospital with several broken bones on Christmas Day. St. Martin Parish Sheriff Becket Breaux says, in a press release, that Horton was arrested on Thursday and has been booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center on 1 count of Second Degree Cruelty to Juveniles (Felony). No bond has been set at this time.

Shreveport Man Arrested For Injury Of Infant A Shreveport man was arrested following an infant sustaining severe head injuries in his care. On December 23, 2020,  Shreveport Police responded to the 4900 block of Durham Place relative to a child suffering a severe injury. When officers arrived, they learned that a 5-month-old infant had sustained severe head trauma. The child was immediately transported to Ochsner LSU Health by the Shreveport Fire Department with life-threatening injuries. Violent Crimes and Youth Services Detectives were present at both the hospital and the crime scene. Ochsner Medical staff advised investigators that the infant suffered severe, life-threatening trauma to the head and body. Detectives interviewed multiple witnesses and family members of the infant. Based on their investigation, it was determined that the infant’s biological father, 32 year old Tyshun Washington was responsible for the injuries to the infant.
