Information after two people were shot and killed on chain street. One mother there tells me she decided to keep her son home from school today she was so worried about the shooting. This block has been peaceful for years. Marjorie long decided to keep her 11yearold home today didnt want him walking down the block where two men were shot and killed just after midnight. Every house just about has multiple kids. Reporter we saw families up and down chain street near oak. Police had the area blocked oof looking for clues from the shoot shooter. I have a couple of nephews that live around here. Came around here to check and make sure they was all right. He was relieved to learn his family is okay says violence around here picked up recently, even with young families in the neighborhood. This area has gotten real bad. Katy zachary, nbc 10 news. Us family members grew concerned after not hearing from her several days and this morning she didnt show up for roll call where she works as a police officer. Philadelphia police discovered one of their own dead inside on the 2900 block of Mercer Police found two bodies, a 36yearold female an off Duty Police Officer and 32yearold male acquaintance of hers, both have no obvious trauma. Its a big surprise. Its awful to hear of anyone going, but shes a nice person. Neighbors say the 14 year veteran of the force was well liked and a member of the community. Something like that, its a shock. Residents watched as Philadelphia Police spent most of the day on the block. Crime scene investigators and detectives went inside and out of the home.
