The Aiken City Council voted 6-1 last week to approve the second and final reading of an ordinance granting a request from Parker s Kitchen for larger-than-allowed signs.
The Parker s Kitchen being constructed on the former Dick Smith property west of Aiken is eight weeks from opening and the store may get a bigger sign than allowed by Aiken s zoning ordinance. The Aiken Planning Commission voted unanimously to recommend the Aiken City Council approve a waiver to allow the store to have a sign that is 100 square feet in size along the Jefferson Davis Highway (US Routes 1/78).
