Several evacuated as fire destroys 2 homes, damages 1

A house fire that spread to two other homes prompted authorities to evacuate about a dozen surrounding structures before the wind-driven blaze destroyed two homes and damaged a third in Roxborough Park Saturday night. No injuries were reported.

Authorities say crews have recovered the body of a victim following a deadly house fire on Sunday morning in Douglas County. County spokesperson Rick Martin announced the fire and death of a 46-year-old man on Monday. Martin said that crews were called to the 3100 block of Christy Ridge Drive after receiving calls of a house fire just before 5 a.m. Sunday.

They’re sending “BEAR HUGS” to Texas in a show of support .We’ve been relatively lucky here in Georgia in regard to winter weather. The same can’t be said for those in the Lone Star State. New Douglas County Fire and EMS Chief Roderick Jolivette wanted to do something to bring smiles to the faces of the children in Texas. The goal was simply to make a child’s day. So he came up with a pretty simple plan to collect as many teddy bears as possible to ship to the children in Austin, Texas.
