justify what they were saying, these fraud claims. the committee s not giving them a public stage to do that because they think most debunk and they want the actual information people have about how this effort came together behind the scenes. i think they re willing to let that bluster go, and people come in and answer serious questions. bluster actually, fantastic for testimony. good to see you. thank you for joining us. kyle cheney legal affairs reporter for politico. i bring in olivia troy, with mike pence, former, on matter of counterterrorism. good morning. thank you for being with us. you know this but a lot of republicans maybe don t realize, maybe coming to the realization, this is an inflexes point for republicans, right? either got to make a decision we re not republicans anymore or really are republicans and you are not our matter, donald trump, and the lunatics who did that rally in florence, arizona,
they haven t made the republicans lives difficult. i talked to some of my few remaining republican friends what i am struck by is they feel no pressure. they are paying no price for opposing a lot of important voter rights legislation, opposing some good maybe some not so great but some good and useful social welfare legislation, child care legislation. they are feeling no pressure from the swing voters who don t realize, just think it is a big fight of the two parties and they say read about some vote one day it is 50/50 and it doesn t pass then it goes away and then on to another topic. democrats have not politically handled this ideally. they have time though. al, once you start breaking these things up there are some people for whom it is 100% clear climate is the biggest priority, some people, health care, or child care is the biggest priority. how do the democrats manage constituencies on the left who have wanted to some degree a bit of an all or nothing strategy?
supreme court. what a lot of people, other than probably jon meacham and those of us that grew up in the movement, don t realize is when dr. king went to memphis that day, he went because he had gone a few days before for the striking garbage worker. there were those who felt king was too moderate, that disrupted the march, there was a riot and somebody was killed. he came back to prove he could do nonviolent marches. sort of like the friction of those that are far left and those that say others are too moderate, he came back in because of the militants that disrupted and that s when he was killed. people forget that this in-fighting has always happened, and that s one of the reasons why we always have our convention of the national action network the week of dr. king s assassination to remind us the goals are there. i thought about this morning what dr. king would be thinking
