they haven't made the republicans' lives difficult. i talked to some of my few remaining republican friends what i am struck by is they feel no pressure. they are paying no price for opposing a lot of important voter rights legislation, opposing some good maybe some not so great but some good and useful social welfare legislation, child care legislation. they are feeling no pressure from the swing voters who don't realize, just think it is a big fight of the two parties and they say read about some vote one day it is 50/50 and it doesn't pass then it goes away and then on to another topic. democrats have not politically handled this ideally. they have time though. >> al, once you start breaking these things up there are some people for whom it is 100% clear climate is the biggest priority, some people, health care, or child care is the biggest priority. how do the democrats manage constituencies on the left who have wanted to some degree a bit of an all or nothing strategy?
