At the marion library, a meeting had to be put on hold and those in attendance had to seek shelter. A short time later the all clear was sounded and the meeting was able to continue one of the hardest hit areas today was in des moines. Moines. Thats where a tornado touched down at the international airport. Widespread damage was reported in neighborhoods around the metro area. Significant damage was also reported in nearby knoxville, where witnesses say a tornado ripped part of the roof off a walmart. Fortunately, no serious injuries have been reported. There was a blackout today in iowa city. But it had nothing to do with the weather. Weather. T

Let me take a step out of the shot so you can see whats going on right now. Here in cedar rapids we havent seen a lot of damage. Weve mostly been hearing of a lot of strong winds from these stormssome as high as 60 to 70 Miles Per Hour. Near fairfax, we heard from a viewer that said a machine shed roof was ripped off. We also checked alliant energy. Right now, theyre saying about 200 people are without power in this area. Well continue to stay out here and keep an eye on these storms as they pass through.
