There are no two words better able to reduce people in Bray and Greystones to laughter and tears simultaneously than ‘cliff’ and ‘walk’. It’s like being tickled whilst chopping an onion. But as we look ahead to 2024, wondering if the amenity, which was once voted Ireland’s No1 Favourite Local Attraction in the Irish Independent Readers’ Travel Awards, will be amenable at all come spring, it’s just a question of glass half-empty, or glass half-full . . . of tears.
Wicklow County Council is planning a temporary diversion route to get the Cliff Walk back open – at least on the Greystones side – after it emerged that compulsory purchase orders (CPO) will need to be pursued to secure the preferred long-term route.
