New Delhi [India], May 5 (ANI/NewsVoir): Vedanta AluminiumPower Business, India s largest producer of aluminium and value-added aluminium products, has accelerated the COVID vaccination initiative and vaccinated over 7500 of its people across its plants.
Further, it has swiftly augmented the capacity of its COVID Care Centres and quarantine centres across its plant sites in remote areas of Odisha and Chhattisgarh to effectively handle the pandemic scenario around its areas of operations.
With over 550 beds, Vedanta s COVID Care Centres at Jharsuguda and Lanjigarh in Odisha, and BALCO in Korba, Chhattisgarh, are equipped with required infrastructure and medical personnel to provide proper care to those affected by COVID. Additionally, Quarantine Centres have been created for isolation and post-treatment recovery.
No ICU beds or beds with oxygen facility in 29 hospitals
A majority of the designated COVID-19 hospitals in East Godavari district are running short of Intensive Critical Care beds and beds with oxygen facility to ensure the critical care treatment to those battling for life .
The report on the availability of the beds released by Collector D. Muralidhar Reddy on Wednesday shows that there is no availability of ICU beds in the 29 hospitals, including District Government Hospital (DGH) in Rajamahendravaram. There is not even a single bed with oxygen facility in the 28 hospitals, including DGH.
In KIMS-Amalapuram, the major hospital covering the Konaseema region, and GSL hospital, that covers Rajamahendravaram region, all the ICU beds have been occupied. In Kakinada Government General Hospital, barely two ICU beds are vacant, and 38 beds with oxygen facility are available to be spared for the new admission of those battling for life.

P. Gopala Krishna, Managing Director of Sangam Milk Producers’ Company Limited (Sangam Dairy - Guntur), tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday night, and was said to be battling for life at the District Government Hospital here.
Mr. Gopala Krishna was brought from the custody of the ACB in Vijayawada to the Rajamahendravaram Central Prison on May 1. He had complained of breathing problem on Monday, but tested negative for the virus, the prison authorities said.
As be began showing symptoms of COVID-19 from Monday evening, he was rushed to the District Government Hospital.

As cases surge in the district, the State government has converted the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU-Kakinada) campus into a 1000-bed COVID Care Centre to accommodate patients with mild or moderate symptoms.
East Godavari Collector D. Muralidhar Reddy and Kakinada Municipal Corporation Commissioner Swapnil Dinakar on Tuesday inaugurated the centre on the JNTU-K campus and services began on Tuesday. Patients who do not have facilities to isolate at home would be sheltered here. They would be only shifted to the government hospital on doctors’ recommendation.
