harder now to get things back on track. chris: you see there are more republicans than democrats. and a republican in the white house. are you saying in effect the democrats won and the republicans cave? i am saying the swamp one won. a few weeks ago chuck schumer shut down our government to the said amnesty was more important. earlier last week, the house sent to the same bill to the senate except with the one thing different. we funded the military for the entire year. instead of standing firm in that position, our leadership said no, let s do what washington always does. let s just spend more on everything. let s just grow government, give into the democrats and studying doing what the people elected us to do.we got this boondoggle we passed on friday morning. chris: you talk tough but some folks are now saying this deal puts the house freedom caucus that you and mick mulvaney helped start, but you guys out of business. let me put up the reasons they suggest. you lose the debt c
maintain. chris: now you re also adding $400 billion in new spending and $1 trillion deficit next year which only increases government borrowing you say that, interest rates spike. it absolutely could. we re looking at a healthier economy than we even we expected. last year we were accused of being way too overly optimistic on our growth rates for this year and for next. and we are already below what we are actually achieving. these are the atlanta fed, last week predict growth over five percent in this quarter. if we can keep the economy humming and generate money for you, me and everybody else, the government takes in more money and that s how we hope to keep the debt under control. chris: director mulvaney, thank you. always a pleasure totalk with you. thank you. chris: one of the founders of
director mulvaney. happy state of the union day, sir. are you inside and warm because i am not? i am. is the president going to talk about the russia investigation or russia meddling in the 2018 election. i think you will see a quick look back at the successes over the course of the year, and then a look fard. i think you will see a gammet of things reported on. i think it is fairly accurate. i don t think you re going to see anything outside of policy tonight. let me ask about russia and the sanctions specifically. there is a lot of mixed reporting out there. they believe some of the sanctions need to be rethought.
mr. mulvaney gave you a similar experience today. they like to say you re obsessed with russia, and everyone is talking about it because there is a criminal investigation into obstruction of justice. i don t think we can emphasize it too much. it is so extraordinary. he is the subject of a criminal investigation and he is the president of the united states. the president wants to talk about it, he s not happen about it, and the more he takes actions and does things like fire the director of the f,000,000,0fbi, the more in the thick of it. and if he had not fired james comey, there would be no robert mu mueller. the republicans have been uniting to release a memo
equal parts in this process. that s why we laid out what we called our four priorities and listed that as one of them. so a daca fix is on the same level playing field as the wall? we know it will be part of the negotiation. that s something the president has committed to do. we don t want to do that without the other three components. it s like having a stool with two legs that doesn t work well. we want to make sure we are addressing this more fully and in a responsible way so we are not just kicking the can down the road but dealing with the issue more long-term. steve? we haven t seen the president in a couple of days. what s he been doing behind the scenes as this drama unfolded? look, we put out a number of readouts he had, several calls both with members on the hill. he s met with a number of his cabinet to manage the shutdown. that was a big priority for the president. it was making sure this was well managed and that it wasn t as director mulvaney calls it
