Burlington Riverfront Entertainment kicked off its inaugural Summer Concert Series last week with free concerts by two of the area s favorite bands, Burlington rock-disco-funkers Jive Radio on Thursday and Warsaw, Illinois, up-country-rock band Stumptown featuring Jerad Harness on Friday, with new Southeast Iowa rock band Jarrod Hogan & South 55 making their debut.
Friday s crowd was the biggest of the weekend, with an estimated 800 music fans present. Stumptown put on one heck of a show. They sounded awesome, former Steamboat Days entertainment guru Mac Coffin Jr. said. Huge crowd, people stayed all night and had a great time. It was like the old South Stage at Steamboat Days.
