Agriculture Deptt kick-starts Kharif Campaign from Sumbal

Apr 15, 2021 While addressing the gathering of farmers, the JD Agriculture highlighted the objectives of organizing outreach programs by way of the Kharif campaign and said that such a type of program aims at reaching out to the farmers to take appraisal for on ground assessment. He urged upon the farmers to come forward and work in a coordinated manner with the Department for the overall development of the agriculture sector. JD highlighted the need for a multi dimensional marketing strategy concept so that the produce of the farmer could be marketed in a very effective manner. He said the Department is planning a drive to organize special training programs for educated youths to adopt global trends in agriculture.

2400 PCBs distributed among entrepreneurs and mushroom growers of Srinagar and Budgam

Share Srinagar: The Department of Agriculture Kashmir today distributed Pasteurised Compost Bags (PCBs) to the mushroom growers/entrepreneurs of district Srinagar and Budgam at Integrated Mushroom Development Centre (IMDC) Lalmandi, here. On the occasion, the Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal said that the Department is working on a model aimed at generating additional income to the growers for which the Mushroom Sector is all set to increase productivity and enhance employment avenues. He said IMDC Lalmandi is providing 2400 pasteurized compost bags and other inputs in the first phase besides this the department is committed to give all sorts of technical guidance to the interested mushroom growers and entrepreneurs for setting up new mushroom units.

Director Agri discusses strategies for implementation of agriculture export policy

Mar 29, 2021 Deliberating upon the draft paper submitted by Deputy General Manager for creating market linkages of the products produced in Kashmir viz. Saffron, Zeera, Exotic vegetables, Sweet Corn etc., it was resolved that a comprehensive strategy will be evolved with respect to each crop for its export and market linkages so that the farmers of Kashmir get benefited. It was given to understand that Kashmir has a huge potential of exporting Saffron, Rice, Vegetables, however presently the market linkages to these products are seldom in place and thus there is a dire need to look into this aspect. The meeting was attended by Joint Director Agriculture Extension Mohammad Muzaffer Hurrra, Joint Director Agriculture Inputs / Marketing/ PMH Amir U Din Andrabi, Joint Director Apiculture & Mushroom Development Farooq Ahmad Shah, Joint Director Seeds, Pesticides and Fertilizers Mohammad Iqbal Khan besides Deputy General Manager APEDA, Divendar Prasad.
