While addressing the gathering of farmers, the JD Agriculture highlighted the objectives of organizing outreach programs by way of the Kharif campaign and said that such a type of program aims at reaching out to the farmers to take appraisal for on ground assessment.
He urged upon the farmers to come forward and work in a coordinated manner with the Department for the overall development of the agriculture sector. JD highlighted the need for a multi dimensional marketing strategy concept so that the produce of the farmer could be marketed in a very effective manner. He said the Department is planning a drive to organize special training programs for educated youths to adopt global trends in agriculture.

While the BJP continues to struggle in Kashmir, a spice emblematic of the Valley and representing the party’s favourite colour is said to have turned a corner after years of poor yields.
Saffron, the world’s costliest spice, fetches Rs 1.5 lakh to Rs 2.5 lakh a kilogram. Its production in Kashmir, the only place in India where it is grown, had been waning for decades because of droughts and the conversion of saffron-growing fields into residential plots.
