Sails Up, Lakers! Detroit Lakes students design multiple sailboats for public art project
When the 150 Sails Up in DL public art project was unveiled for the first time this past Friday, April 30, more than a half-dozen of them were revealed to have been created by past and present students of Detroit Lakes Public Schools. Six of the sailboat sculptures will be installed at the school district s four academic buildings, administration building and Lincoln Education Center, while another is going to the DLHS football field, Mollberg Field.

The Detroit Lakes School Board voted not to renew the contracts of 14 teachers at its Monday night meeting.
The following teachers will not be returning to Detroit Lakes Public Schools this fall as a result of the board s action:
Callie Brorby, Roosevelt Elementary kindergarten teacher;
Roberta Chatham, Roosevelt music teacher;
Peyton Foertsch, Rossman Elementary special education teacher;
Aaron Gastecki, Detroit Lakes High School industrial technology teacher;
Sadie Herman, Roosevelt special education teacher;
