The charges the driver could face reporter this tangled mess is whats left of two vehicles following a deadly collision just before 7 00 in the morning. The vehicle responsible for was southern most lane, pulled around a bus and, again, according to one witness, hit the van from behind exploding it up into the air. You could tell this had a weight to it. It was really serious. Are police say the mini van was stopped at a light when hit by an elderly woman doing speeds of 70 or 80 miles an hour. Officers saw the vehicle pass them at a rate of speed upwards of 70 miles an hour by all estimates. They didnt have time to get behind the car. Reporter inside the mini van, a mather, her daughter and son. The son, kevin san, 16 years old, died at the scene. The mother and daughter in the hospital. The traffic at least right now is not backing up heading into San Francisco, but again, lanes are closed on the upper, and lower deck of the western span. Keep that in mind, there will be some delays. At last check, the repairs were expected to be finished around midnight. Now to the search for that missing 14yearold boy in the waters off ocean beach. From the water, the shore, and the air, the search for that teenager is now in its 6th hour. He was in the water with a cousin when their afternoon at the beach turned dangerous. Firefighters are gearing up for the worst as a heat wave moves into the bay area. Good evening and thank you for joining us. Im ama dates. We have Team Coverage on the heat and fire danger. Lilian kim and Spencer Christian will have more on the heat watch, but first lets check in on the fire burning in the south bay. It started in a landfill in san jose. Tiffany wilson is live at the scene with the latest. Tiffany . Reporter i spoke with one of the owners and he said he had no idea how the fire started, but since it started it proved difficult to put out. If you look over my shoulder you can get a live look at the smoke. At this hour it is very heavy and in fact they are telling people that live in the area if they are bothered to shut their windows and shelter in place. Trapped in traffic. Right now Emergency Repair work on the bay bridge is causing a miles long back up both into and out of the city. Those repairs are all due to a large hole on the upper deck of the western span. Crews are rushing to fill that hole before the morning commute. Good evening. Im dan ashley. And im carolyn johnson. Abc7 News Reporter alan wang is live with the latest on this. Yes, cal trans is up there trying to patch the hole on the bridge that is two feet long and half a food wide. Let me show you what it looks like on the upper deck. This is where the cries are putting in the new rebar so they can fill the hole with more concrete. Two lanes of traffic on the upper deck are closed while they work on this, and they hope to be finished by midnight. The hole opened up and the rain and concrete down on the lower deck. There are no reports of injuries, but one cal trans worker tells us there was a large chunk of concrete attached to some rebar that was dangling over traffic
