The case pertains to an FIR registered in 2020 at the Khajuri Khas police station based on a complaint by one Sameeja alleging vandalism of her house by a riotous mob.
According to the police, the accused, Muntajim, had been identified by the authorities during the investigation into the riots but had absconded to Telangana thereafter.
“Let an explanation be called from Commissioner of Police Delhi under his signatures through Secretary (Home) Union of India as to why appropriate action as per law be not taken against him for non-submission of the report in terms of the previous order,” the court said.

The second supplementary charge sheet filed by the Delhi Police in February 2020 riot case has made some sensational disclosure. It said that suspended AAP Councillor Tahir Hussain, former JNU student Umar Khalid and activist Khalid Saifi fuellled the violence that took place in northeast Delhi.
According to witness Rahul Kasana, driver of Tahir Hussain, he corroborated the fact that a meeting of minds happened before the riots. He claimed that Tahir had met Umar Khalid and Saifi at Shaheen Bagh on January 8, 2020. He said that Tahir Hussain provided fake bills of manpower supply to launder money for fuelling the riots, according to police. The main charge sheet was filed in June against Hussain and others in the case.

New Delhi: The Delhi high court has directed the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch to file a status report on the investigation into the death of the Muslim man who was seen in a video being beaten by police personnel who had asked him and others to sing the National Anthem during the February riots.
